Clear Communication in Moments That Matter
Healthcare experiences often occur during moments of stress, uncertainty, or vulnerability. While digital health platforms provide access to important information, the language used within these experiences can unintentionally increase anxiety or confusion. This project explores how thoughtful UX writing and content design can support patients managing chronic conditions by making medical information easier to understand, emotionally supportive, and actionable.
Medical Language Without Context Creates Anxiety
Patients are frequently presented with clinical terminology, abrupt notifications, and unclear instructions inside health platforms. While the information may be accurate, the lack of context and empathetic framing often leaves patients feeling overwhelmed or unsure about what to do next. This communication gap can lead to increased anxiety, delayed follow through on care, and unnecessary outreach to healthcare providers for clarification.
Designing Language That Guides, Reassures, and Supports Action
The solution focused on redesigning the language across key patient touchpoints to make healthcare information feel clear, calm, and actionable. Instead of presenting clinical data in isolation, content was reframed to provide context, emotional reassurance, and guidance on next steps. UX writing emphasized plain language, supportive tone, and progressive disclosure. Each screen was structured to first explain what the information means, why it matters, and what the patient can do next. This approach helped reduce cognitive overload while preserving medical accuracy and trust.
